帶擋邊的槽形板條可增加輸送傾角和增大輸送能力。一般的板式輸送機的輸送能力在840米/時以下，板條寬度在1600毫米以內(nèi)，輸送速度在0.1—0.66米/秒之間。輸送距離一般不大：帶擋邊的板式輸送機在地面上工作的可達300米；在地面下，例如在翻車機下的地坑中工作的有的達到600米。板式輸送機可輸送沉重的、大塊的、磨琢性大的和熾熱的物料，在輸送的同時還可完成一些生產(chǎn)操作，如烘干、冷卻、洗滌等。這種輸送機的結(jié)構比較復雜，運動部件的質(zhì)量大，維修不便，成本較高。
